Statement:

Creating is always on my mind. Colors and images constantly flash before my eyes. I'm an abstract artist, spilling myself onto my canvas in color and form. The creative process makes me feel whole. I'm drawn to an earthy palette as in nature, however, I like a few splashes of boldness for a little twist. The spice of life.

I never really know how a piece will turn out. My only initial plan is the color I will use for the base. I paint until the physical piece feels like the emotional idea I saw in my mind.  I use many tools including my hands (gloved of course). I feel more connected with the paint and my feelings. I am constantly exploring and trying new techniques. The hours in the studio seem to fly by. I love it.

Biography:

I am an established artist. I worked with a publishing company for over 8 years as a folk art painter . My work has been licensed by companies such as York Wallcoverings, Wallquest, India Home Fashion, Fashion Mats Inc., Close to the Art, Direct International, Magnet Works, Blossom Bucket and Mohawk. I broke away from folk art to pursue my love in abstract art.

I have a passion for creating unusual and unique art using texture as a base for my work. Experimenting with found objects and various methods allows me to always look at my art in a new light. My hope is that my work connects with the viewer, giving them a feeling felt only in the heart.

My paint is applied in layers, color over color, blending and covering or wiping away to leave a soft thin layer. I scrape away or add more paint to the surface for interest and depth, sometimes scraping right into the texture and filling the gaps again with more paint. It's a game of give and take.

Living in New England all my life, Massachusetts to be exact, I'm lucky to be a stone's throw from beaches and a few steps from the mountains. New England is a beautiful place to live.

My inspiration comes from the trees in the fall, when they are golden and red or orange in the sunlight. It comes from a patch of flowers growing in a field reaching  up to be warmed by the sun, a birch tree with its white peeling bark...  a rose that seems to flower forever. Or, it could be a feeling I have in the moment, all working together in my mind just waiting to be released.
